Planter wart treatment Although it's possible that planter warts eventually disappear on their own, you should seek professional treatment if they are painful. Your foot(doctor) will carefully trim the wart and apply a chemically treated dressing, and probably he or she will give you further instructions for self care. Carefully following the given instructions and good foot hygiene is often all that is needed after the treatment. However, it may take some time for the planter warts to disappear completely. According to the study: "Modern treatment of warts: cure rates at 3 and 6 months" more then 50 percent of the people suffering of warts are cured within 3 months. Four hundred consecutive referrals with viral warts of the hands and/or feet were investigated to determine the cure rate from a combination of cryotherapy, keratolytic wart paint and paring. The subjects were treated for 3 months with wart paint and cryotherapy and were randomized to receive, or not, paring in addition. Fifty two per cent of subjects were cured by 3 months. There are serveral effective and inexpensive over-the-counter-remedies and cures available for people infected with planter warts. The study "Over-the-counter foot remedies" has shown that. An excerpt: "Several effective and inexpensive over-the-counter treatments are available for minor but troubling foot problems. In most cases, one week of therapy with topical terbinafine is effective for interdigital tinea pedis. Treatment of plantar warts with 17 percent salicylic acid with lactic acid in a collodion base is as effective as cryotherapy, but treatment must be sustained for several months". |
